Panama City’s First Baptist Church Expands Weekly Food Drive to Every Monday

First Baptist Church in Panama City is responding to community needs by expanding its weekly food drive. This initiative aims to support local workers affected by the government shutdown that began on October 1.

Expanded Food Drive Schedule

Starting now, the church is conducting food drives every Monday. This change replaces their typical bi-weekly schedule. The church intends to continue this increased frequency until the government shutdown concludes.

Impact on Local Families

On November 3, the church distributed food to 305 families during its free community service. The food drive operated from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Rick McClung, the church’s executive pastor, expressed hope that their efforts are providing vital assistance to those in need. He emphasized their goal of being a positive influence in the community.

Significant Meal Distribution

During the most recent Monday food drive, volunteers distributed 1,785 meals. This figure represents more than four times the typical amount given during regular distributions.

Future Plans
