Red Wings’ Patrick Kane Completes Full Practice, Return Date Unclear
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane participated fully in Thursday’s practice after recovering from an upper-body injury. However, his availability for Friday’s game against the New York Rangers remains uncertain.
Patrick Kane’s Injury History
Kane has not played since suffering an injury during the game against Tampa Bay on October 17. In total, he has only played five of the Wings’ first 14 games this season, scoring five points (two goals and three assists).
After practice, Kane expressed optimism about his condition. “I’m feeling pretty good. It was nice to get back into practice with the team today,” he said. However, he emphasized the decision about his participation would come later. “We’ll see how it is Friday. I don’t think there’s any real decision on when I’m back,” he added.
Coach’s Perspective on Kane’s Impact
Head coach Todd McLellan recognized the significant role Kane plays on the team. “He finishes off that line well when they’re playing good,” McLellan stated, highlighting Kane’s competitiveness and puck-handling skills. Kane’s presence is particularly important for the Wings’ power play, which benefits from his ability to create scoring opportunities.
Despite not practicing on Thursday, forward Mason Appleton will be available for the game against the Rangers, as confirmed by McLellan. The team aims to maintain momentum after a challenging road trip, where they recorded a 3-2-0 record and demonstrated resilience in their performances.
