In a disturbing incident, multiple explosions occurred at a mosque located in a high school in Jakarta, Indonesia. This tragedy happened during Friday prayers, injuring at least 54 individuals, predominantly students.
Details of the Incident
The blasts were reported around midday, coinciding with the start of the sermon at the mosque at SMA 27. This state high school is situated within a navy compound in the Kelapa Gading neighborhood of Jakarta.
Witness Accounts

The cause of the explosions has not yet been determined. Jakarta Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri noted that the blasts originated near the mosque’s loudspeaker. Authorities deployed an anti-bomb squad to investigate the scene.
Initial Findings
During their inspection, the squad found toy rifles and a toy gun in the vicinity of the mosque. Police are emphasizing the need for caution about speculation regarding the nature of the incident.
Authorities’ Statements
Chief Suheri urged the public to allow the investigation to proceed without undue assumptions. “Let the authorities work first,” he stated. Results of the ongoing inquiry will be communicated to the public once available.
