Madrid’s Cultural Calendar: Free Events

Fuego y Silencio Exhibition

One of the highlights is the “Fuego y Silencio” exhibition by José Manuel Ciria. This art show is hosted at the Galería Distrito 001 from November 7 to December 10. The exhibition explores contemporary abstraction, urging viewers to engage with the tension and beauty within the artwork.

Ciria describes his work as a blend of chance and control, manifesting in each piece’s unique relationship with time and permanence. Notably, some artworks reference his classic series “Máscaras de la Mirada.” Visitors can reach the gallery easily via the Goya metro station (Lines 2 and 4).

Musical Performances

Chile 1971: Allende’s Early Days Exhibition

From September 11 to November 15, the Jardín García Márquez at Casa de América features the “Chile 1971: The First Days of Allende” exhibition. This collection, curated from Michael Mauney’s archive, presents 461 photographs documenting everyday life in Chile during Salvador Allende’s presidency. The images depict a nation undergoing significant transformation and are shown to the public for the first time after 53 years.

Access to the exhibition is available via the Banco de España metro station (Line 2).
