Pune Man Murders Wife Over Suspected Affair and Burns Body to Conceal Evidence

The Pune police have arrested a 42-year-old man, Samir Punjabrao Jadhav, for the murder of his wife over suspected infidelity. Samir has been accused of meticulously planning the crime and burning Anjali Jadhav’s body to conceal evidence.

Pune Man Murders Wife Over Suspected Affair

Samir, a resident of Shivane, Pune, reportedly drew inspiration from the Ajay Devgn film “Drishyam” to execute his crime. He then falsely reported to the police that his wife had gone missing to divert suspicion.

Timeline of Events

The timeline of this tragic event is as follows:

  • October 26: Samir told the police Anjali went missing after leaving to meet a friend at around 2:15 PM.
  • October 27: Samir attempted to cover up the crime by destroying evidence and disposing of Anjali’s body.

Samir married Anjali, a 38-year-old private school teacher, in 2017. The couple had two children and were living with Samir’s mother. Reports indicate that infidelity claims led to frequent arguments between the pair over the past year and a half.

Investigation Unfolds

On October 28, Samir approached Warje police, claiming what later proved to be a fabricated story. Police began reviewing CCTV footage, which contradicted his account and showed the couple leaving together on the day of Anjali’s disappearance.

After sustained interrogation, he confessed to the murder. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sambhaji Kadam informed that Samir was the one carrying out the extra-marital affair and had seen what he deemed “objectionable chats” on Anjali’s phone. However, the investigation revealed that Samir had previously sent Anjali a message expressing his love from a friend’s phone.

Details of the Crime

Samir had previously rented a godown in Shindewadi, about 25 km from Pune, to dispose of Anjali’s body. He had purchased wood and arranged for fuel in advance. On the night of the murder, he took her to the godown under the pretense of an outing. Once there, he allegedly strangled her and subsequently burned her body in a kiln he had set up.

p>Following the murder, Samir disposed of the ashes in a nearby river and attempted to erase all traces of the crime scene. He also sent his mother and children away to ensure he could commit the act without interruption.

Legal Actions Taken

An FIR has been filed against Samir Punjabrao Jadhav under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The case has been forwarded to the Rajgad police for further investigation.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the complexities of marital relationships and the extreme actions some individuals may take under emotional distress.
