Pune Crime Shock: Husband Murders Wife Inspired by Drishyam Disposes Body in Fabrication Furnace
Pune has been rocked by a shocking crime that led to the murder of 38-year-old Anjali Jadhav. Her husband, Samir Punjabrao Jadhav, aged 42, reportedly killed her after becoming suspicious of her fidelity. This heinous act was allegedly inspired by the film “Drishyam.”
Details of the Crime
The murder took place on October 26, when Anjali was reported missing from the vicinity of Warje Bridge. Samir filed a missing persons report two days later. His actions, however, raised suspicions among law enforcement.
Investigation into the Disappearance
At first, Samir expressed a deep concern for his missing wife. However, his frequent visits to the police station to inquire about the investigation progress drew attention. Following standard procedures, the case was transferred to the Rajgad Police Station, but the Warje-Malwadi Police continued to pursue their investigation.
Revelation of the Truth
Senior Inspector Vishwajeet Kaingade supervised the investigation. During prolonged questioning, Samir ultimately confessed to Anjali’s murder, driven by jealousy over her rumored affair with local resident Satej Patil. According to police sources, Samir had planned the murder a month in advance.
Murder Details
- Samir rented a warehouse in Shindewadi for ₹18,000 per month.
- He prepared an iron box and collected wooden logs at the site.
- On the day of the murder, he sent their two children to stay with relatives.
Under the pretense of a casual outing, Samir drove Anjali in his Hyundai i10 to a hotel for refreshments. They later went to the rented warehouse where the tragic event unfolded. After they sat down to eat, Samir strangled Anjali for nearly ten minutes until she succumbed.
Aftermath and Evidence Disposal
After the murder, Samir concealed her body in the iron box, doused it with petrol, and burned it. He then scattered the ashes into a nearby river and sold the iron box for scrap to eliminate any evidence.
Legal Proceedings
Following the confession, authorities initiated legal proceedings against Samir under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Warje-Malwadi Police Station registered the case, and the investigation was later handed off to the Rajgad Police Station for further action.
This tragic incident highlights the impacts of jealousy and the dark inspiration drawn from entertainment, as a husband’s suspicions led to a calamitous crime.
