Amber Davies, a contestant on the popular show Strictly Come Dancing, showcased the beauty of the Welsh language while teaching her dance partner, Nikita Kuzmin. In a recent training segment aired on BBC, the duo practiced their salsa for the upcoming performance.
Welsh Language Lessons on Strictly
Davies, a proud Welsh speaker from Denbigh, took the opportunity to share her native language. During their practice, she taught Nikita essential Welsh words, including the term for ‘forward’ which is ‘ymlaen’.

Nikita embraced the lessons, expressing his enjoyment of learning Welsh. He remarked, “Amber has told me the words for arms and legs in Welsh, and I have never been happier!” The pair also humorously explored whimsical Welsh words like ‘pysgod wibbli wobli’ for jellyfish and ‘pen gwyn’ for penguin.
In a heartfelt moment, Amber addressed the camera in Welsh, stating, “It’s time to dance, and I hope I can make Wales proud.”
Amber’s Journey on Strictly
Amber Davies joined Strictly Come Dancing as a last-minute replacement for Dani Dyer-Bowen, who had to withdraw due to an ankle injury. Reflecting on her rapid entry into the competition, Amber described it as “the craziest 24 hours of my life.”
She expressed her excitement about participating in a show she has watched since childhood, saying, “I’m going to give it my all, and I am sending Dani well wishes for a speedy recovery.”

Since her victory on ITV’s Love Island, Amber has pursued a successful career in musical theatre. Her recent roles include:
