Clint Stanaway, a 42-year-old reporter from Channel Nine, has announced his departure from his hosting role on Weekend Today and the network itself. After a notable 25-year career, Stanaway has opted for a career shift towards radio to regain a healthier work-life balance.

Clint Stanaway shared his decision to leave the television network, highlighting the need for a change due to distressing health concerns. He cited the toll his demanding schedule had taken on both his physical and mental well-being. Stanaway expressed that he would redirect his focus towards his role as a news reporter on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren show.
Health Concerns
During an appearance on Big Bros podcast, Stanaway candidly discussed the challenges he faced. He experienced various health issues, including:

- Severe headaches
- Sleep disturbances
- Chest pains and anxiety
He recounted feeling exhausted after work, leading to a cycle of fatigue that limited his social life. Stanaway described this phase as “pretty distressing,” emphasizing the detrimental impact on his ability to engage with friends and family.
Future Endeavors
In his farewell post on social media, he reflected on his long-standing relationship with Channel Nine. Stanaway started his journey at the network as an 18-year-old and grew passionate about various roles within the company, including news and sports reporting. However, he recognized that juggling both television and radio commitments had become overwhelming.
Clint’s decision was driven by a desire for a healthier balance in life. He expressed enthusiasm for his new direction in radio, which he aims to prioritize moving forward.
Shifts at Channel Nine
Stanaway’s departure has occurred alongside other changes at Channel Nine. Recently, the network confirmed that Samantha Armytage will be joining the Today family, filling in for David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys on the summer series of Today Extra starting mid-December.
Although whispers of future changes persist, Karl Stefanovic is expected to return with Sarah Abo as co-host in January 2026.
