Shailene Woodley Stars in Thrilling Psychological Drama ‘Ultra’
Shailene Woodley will star in the psychological drama, “Ultra,” directed and written by Victoria Negri. This film focuses on the intense world of ultramarathon running.
About “Ultra”
In “Ultra,” Woodley plays Eve, an ultramarathon runner coping with the loss of her twin sister. The film’s central event is the Badwater 135 Ultramarathon, a grueling 135-mile race through Death Valley.
Plot Details
During this race, Eve faces not only physical challenges but also emotional turmoil. She becomes aware of an unknown runner in white, who is following her closely. This adds a layer of psychological suspense to her journey.
Director’s Inspiration
Victoria Negri draws upon her own experiences as a long-distance runner. She has directed the ultramarathon documentary “Personal Best” and completed two 100-mile races, numerous 50-mile races, and multiple marathons.
Negri shared her connection to running, expressing how it helped her process grief after her father’s stroke left him paralyzed. She explained, “Running is a metaphor for emotional pain, capturing the ways we process loss.” This personal journey heavily influences the narrative of “Ultra.”

“Ultra” is being produced by Allison Rose Carter and Jon Read from Savage Rose Films, alongside Iris Torres. The film is in the capable hands of Mister Smith Entertainment for international sales, while WME Independent manages U.S. sales.
