Lehi Fire Destroys Under-Construction Apartment Complex in Video
Early Sunday morning in Lehi, Utah, a significant fire broke out at an apartment complex under construction in the Traverse Mountain area. This incident quickly escalated, with flames visible from miles away along Interstate 15, specifically near Point of the Mountain.
Details of the Fire Incident
Three structures were engulfed in flames, including two apartment buildings and a clubhouse. This project, known as “Alta Vista,” was being developed by Wood Partners and was slated to include a total of 304 residential units. James Wilson, the project’s senior superintendent, expressed confusion over how the fire started given existing security measures.

Wilson noted that a security guard had just completed a routine check of the area, reporting no issues. Despite the precautions, flames erupted shortly thereafter, igniting at a time when no heat sources were present on the site.

The fire has since been contained, and fortunately, there have been no reported injuries. Fire officials have indicated that the blaze no longer poses a risk to nearby residences. They will continue to manage and extinguish any remaining hot spots throughout the night.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the fire. Lehi Fire Chief Jeremy Craft mentioned that the aftermath resembles a large pile of rubble, with expected efforts to sift through the debris lasting four to five days. To assist in identifying a possible arson connection, specially trained dogs will be employed.
Operational Adjustments Following the Fire
As a result of the damage, two cranes at the construction site became unstable. On the following Monday, a larger crane is scheduled to arrive to safely dismantle these affected cranes, allowing for better access to the site.
Community Advisory
In light of the fire, local authorities have advised the community to steer clear of the northern end of Traverse Mountain, including Flight Park Road and adjacent walking trails, until further notice.
