After his fall, the guitarist was placed on life support. His family later made the difficult decision to discontinue his ventilator. Medical efforts included a hemicraniectomy in an attempt to alleviate the subdural hematoma.
Frehley was a key member of Kiss from its formation in 1973 until 1982, when he exited the band due to substance abuse issues and creative conflicts.
