Kyiv Faces Extended Power Outage Again
Kyiv is experiencing significant power outages as a result of recent Russian attacks. These outages will persist throughout the day, causing disruptions from midnight to midnight.
Details of the Power Outage
Ukrenergo and DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks have announced that the scheduled outages will take place 24/7. Affected residents should prepare for blackouts lasting between 5 to 8 hours consecutively, followed by temporary restorations. The outages are set to impact all household consumers in Kyiv.
Outage Scheduling and Recommendations
According to DTEK, updated schedules for November 10 indicate that three sectors within the capital will experience power loss. Residents can check specific outage times on the DTEK website or through the “Action” application.
- Outages will last from 00:00 to 23:59 daily.
- Residents advised to charge devices and prepare alternative lighting sources.
- Use electricity conservatively, and switch on heavy appliances one at a time after restoration.
Causes of the Outages
The current power situation is a result of the severe impact from missile and drone strikes that occurred on November 8. This attack is noted as one of the most significant during the ongoing conflict, damaging thermal power plants and substations. As a result, the power system is under extreme strain.
Regional Impact and Current Status
The most severe conditions are present in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions. Despite the challenges, Kyiv’s metro system operates reliably and serves as a shelter during air raid alerts.
Residents of Kyiv are encouraged to plan their daily activities according to the blackout schedule while ensuring they have necessary supplies on hand to navigate these power outages effectively.
