Widespread Power Outage Continues to Affect Nueva Vizcaya Residents
Residents of Nueva Vizcaya face a prolonged power outage following the devastating effects of Super Typhoon Uwan. Thousands of households remain without electricity, highlighting the urgent need for restoration efforts.
Power Restoration Efforts in Nueva Vizcaya
The Nueva Vizcaya Electric Cooperative (Nuvelco) has taken action by requesting assistance from the National Electrification Administration’s Task Force Kapatid and the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association. These organizations are expected to aid in the immediate restoration of power across the province.
Nuvelco’s Response to the Crisis
Fredel Salvador, the general manager of Nuvelco, reported that the cooperative has activated Code Typhoon Sentinel. This initiative mobilizes all available personnel in a continuous effort to assess and repair the damage caused by the typhoon to electric infrastructure.
- Assessment of damage is ongoing.
- Line workers are deployed throughout the province.
- Repairs will commence as soon as conditions allow.
Salvador emphasized the importance of safety for residents, urging them to avoid fallen or hanging wires. They were also advised to report any damaged infrastructure via official hotlines. “We are doing everything we can to restore power as quickly as possible,” Salvador stated.
Current Status of Power Supply
While the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines made attempts to energize its lines, these efforts to provide partial power to the municipalities of Solano and Bayombong have not been successful yet. The extensive power outage has disrupted thousands of households, businesses, and essential services throughout the province.
Community Cooperation and Safety
Nuvelco has urged patience and cooperation from the community during this challenging time. “Our primary focus is on restoring power safely and efficiently,” Salvador reassured. The cooperative is collaborating closely with government agencies and other stakeholders.
Residents are encouraged to remain updated through official channels and exercise caution in areas where electric infrastructure has been compromised. Further updates about the restoration of power will be communicated as they become available.
