Shannon Airport Welcomes Four Exciting New Ryanair Routes Amid Major Summer Expansion

Ryanair is significantly expanding its operations at Shannon Airport for the summer season of 2024. This expansion includes new routes and increased flight frequencies, alongside a major investment of $400 million.

New Ryanair Routes from Shannon Airport

Starting March 31, Ryanair will introduce four exciting new routes from Shannon Airport:

• Rome
• Poznań
• Warsaw

Flights to Rome and Poznań will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In addition, the Warsaw service will offer four weekly flights, available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays beginning March 30.

Enhanced Flight Schedule

This upcoming summer, passengers will notice an expanded flight schedule. Ryanair will also increase frequencies on five key routes:

• Manchester
• Alicante
• Barcelona-Reus
• Lanzarote
• Malta

This expansion brings the total number of routes from Shannon to a record 30, which represents a 15% increase in capacity with 1.4 million available seats, including an additional 180,000 seats during the peak summer months.

Strategic Importance of the Expansion

Ray O’Driscoll, interim CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, expressed excitement about this expansion. He stated it is a testament to Shannon’s growth potential and reflects ongoing infrastructure investments aimed at improving passenger experience. This strategic move enhances connectivity to vital European cities and will cater to both leisure and business travelers.

Similarly, Jason McGuinness, Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the importance of regional airports. He emphasized the need for the Irish Government to enhance the Regional Airports Programme to support increased passenger traffic.

Additional Developments

Earlier this year, Ryanair announced a fourth based aircraft at Shannon, as well as new winter routes to destinations such as Lapland and Madeira. In addition, six popular winter routes will see increased capacity, including:

• Edinburgh
• Kraków
• Lanzarote
• Manchester
• Wrocław
