Everything You Need to Know About Irish Life Dublin Marathon 2026 Entry Details Ballot System and Date

The Irish Life Dublin Marathon, recognized as Ireland’s largest marathon, is set to return on October 26, 2026. Following a successful 2025 event that saw over 22,000 runners participating, excitement is building for the next race. A new ballot system has been introduced, presenting changes in the entry process.

2026 Dublin Marathon Entry Details

The race will start at Leeson Street Lower in Dublin. With 347 days remaining until the event, prospective runners should prepare for the new registration requirements.

Key Changes to the Entry Process

  • The 48-hour priority entry window for past participants has been eliminated.
  • Ballot entries will now be the primary method of registration.
  • Those who have run the marathon since 2016 can indicate their past participation in the ballot.
  • The early entry initiative for female participants of the Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon will also integrate into the general ballot system.

Ballot Process Details

The ballot process aims to create a fair entry system. This year, a €5 administration fee will be required for ballot entries. If selected, this fee will contribute towards the full entry cost of €110; otherwise, it will not be refunded. Competitors can submit one entry each.

Registration for the 2026 marathon ballot will open at 7 AM on November 12, 2025, and will close at midnight on November 17, 2025. Runners can expect notifications regarding their ballot status on November 25 and 26, 2025.

Goals for the Upcoming Race

One of the main objectives for 2026 is to encourage greater female participation, which currently stands at only 36%. The event organizers aim to boost this percentage and ensure a more balanced representation between first-time and experienced runners.

The marathon is not only a test of endurance but also a chance to experience the vibrant atmosphere of Dublin. As preparations begin, potential participants should take note of these crucial changes and dates.
