Discover the New Ballot Entry Process for the 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon

The Irish Life Dublin Marathon is scheduled for October 26, 2026. Following a successful event in 2025, which drew over 22,000 participants, the marathon is implementing a new ballot entry process. This initiative aims to improve registration fairness and increase the number of female participants.

Revamped Ballot Entry Process for 2026 Irish Life Dublin Marathon

This year, marathon organizers have introduced a new ballot system. It replaces the former 48-hour priority entry for returning participants. Notably, runners who have taken part since 2016 can indicate their previous participation during the ballot registration.

Key Changes to the Registration Process

  • The early entry option for women who complete the Irish Life Dublin Half Marathon will now be part of the general ballot system.
  • The goal is to exceed the previous year’s female participation rate, which was around 36%.
  • There will be a €5 administration fee for each ballot entry, which can be redeemed against the €110 entry fee if successful.
  • Each individual can submit only one entry.

Timeline for Ballot Registration

The application window for the marathon opens at 7 am on November 12, 2025, and will close at midnight on November 17, 2025. Participants can enter through the official marathon website, www.emegypt.com. Notifications regarding ballot results will be sent to applicants on November 25 and 26, ensuring a staggered announcement.

Commitment to Inclusivity and Diversity

The new ballot system is designed to achieve a balanced mix of first-time and returning participants. Historically, about 70% of entries were claimed by past runners. Organizers aim to foster an inclusive environment, welcoming both novice and seasoned runners. They are also committed to promoting gender diversity in future races.
