Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Concerns

The forecasters predict substantial rainfall accumulations, particularly in higher altitudes and exposed areas. Such conditions are likely to result in hazardous travel.

Additional Yellow Warnings for Other Counties

In addition to the orange alert, multiple status yellow warnings will also take effect:

  • Counties Affected: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford.
  • Effective Period: 9 AM Friday for 24 hours.
  • Risks: Persistent rain on saturated ground, leading to potential flooding and challenging travel conditions.

Another yellow rain warning covers Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Louth, Meath, Wexford, and Wicklow. This warning is set to take effect from 11 AM Friday for a 24-hour duration, indicating risks of flooding and poor visibility.

Wind Alerts in Place

A status yellow wind warning will also impact counties Dublin, Louth, Wexford, and Wicklow. This warning begins at noon on Friday and lasts until 4 AM Saturday. Strong northeasterly winds could result in difficult travel conditions and the risk of wind-related debris.

Forecast for the Coming Days

On Thursday, rain showers are expected primarily in northern regions, while southern areas will experience mostly dry weather with occasional scattered showers. Temperatures will range from 7 to 14 degrees Celsius, with the north being cooler.

On Thursday night, a cloud cover will move in from the south, bringing patchy rain and drizzle. The northern regions should remain predominantly dry. The weekend is expected to feature a mix of scattered rain and occasional sunny spells, with Sunday’s high temperatures between 7 and 13 degrees.
