Explore Prashant Kishor’s Transformation From Political Strategist to Influential Political Player

Prashant Kishor, popularly known as PK, has transitioned from a political strategist to a significant political player in India. After years of impactful work, he has launched the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP) and is contesting elections in Bihar.

Prashant Kishor’s Early Life

Kishor was born in 1977 in Konar, Rohtas district, Bihar. He later completed his secondary education in Buxar. Before his political career, he worked for eight years on a United Nations-supported public health program.

A Career in Political Strategy

Kishor’s political journey began in 2012 during Narendra Modi’s campaign for the Gujarat assembly elections. He co-founded Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG) and played a crucial role in the BJP’s massive victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Innovative Campaign Techniques

His team introduced various creative strategies, such as:

  • Chai Pe Charcha
  • 3D rallies
  • Run for Unity
  • Social media campaigns

Diverse Political Alliances

Kishor’s influence extended beyond the BJP. In 2015, he helped form a coalition known as the Mahagathbandhan, which included the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (United), and Congress. This alliance successfully led to a government in Bihar under Nitish Kumar.

Notable Setbacks

In 2016, Kishor faced his first major setback when Congress hired him for the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, resulting in a significant loss for the party.

Return to Politics with Jan Suraaj Party

In 2018, Kishor joined Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and took on the role of vice president, but he was expelled in 2020 due to differences with leadership. Despite this, his organization, I-PAC, continued to support various parties.

Recent Achievements

His strategic expertise aided the YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh in 2019 and the Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi in 2020. Kishor then collaborated with the Trinamool Congress and DMK, achieving significant electoral victories in both 2021 assembly elections.

A New Chapter: Jan Suraaj

After announcing a break from election strategy, Kishor surprised many by launching his political party, Jan Suraaj, in late 2024. His mission is to promote “people’s good governance.”

Jan Suraaj Padyatra

To connect with the public, Kishor embarked on a 3,000-km padyatra across Bihar before officially launching his party. His critical stance against the current NDA government and promises of change resonate strongly with the electorate.

Kishor aims to reshape Bihar’s political landscape, leveraging his extensive experience to bring about meaningful reforms through the Jan Suraaj Party.
