This court order restricts access to several unlawful mobile applications and websites, including Cricfy TV, from streaming India’s upcoming cricket series against South Africa and New Zealand.

The cricket series features matches scheduled from November 14 to December 19, 2025, against South Africa and from January 11 to January 31, 2026, against New Zealand. JioStar holds exclusive rights to broadcast these events, ensuring they maintain control over both digital and television broadcasts.

JioStar’s Exclusive Rights

JioStar possesses global rights for all Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) events from 2023 to 2028.
The rights include all live and recorded audio-visual content distributed via JioStar’s extensive channels and its OTT platform, JioHotstar.
These rights were confirmed by the BCCI following considerable commercial investment by JioStar.

Concerns Over Rogue Applications

The court’s ruling addressed the persistent issue posed by rogue apps, particularly Android-based platforms like Cricfy TV, which illegally distribute premium cricket content. These applications often resurface under new domain names, threatening legitimate broadcasts.

Immediate Actions Ordered by the Court

The injunction mandates the immediate blockage of eight specific domains tied to these infringing services.
Internet Service Providers (ISPs), Domain Name Registrars (DNS), the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) are required to comply within 72 hours.
The Court permits real-time blocking of any additional infringing applications or websites that may emerge during the cricket series.
