Bednarek Borja Sainz and Luuk de Jong Show Positive Recovery Ahead of Match Against Sintrense
FC Porto is resuming training today at the Jorge Costa Sports Training and Formation Center, Olival. The focus is on preparing for the upcoming match against Sintrense, scheduled for Saturday at Estádio do Dragão. This game marks the fourth round of the Taça de Portugal.
After a win against Famalicão last Sunday, coach Francesco Farioli granted the team a five-day rest. However, four players continued to train daily at the club’s headquarters to aid their recovery.
Player Recoveries: Bednarek, Borja Sainz, and Luuk de Jong
The recovery progress of Bednarek, Borja Sainz, and Luuk de Jong has generated optimism ahead of the match. Each player’s situation is unique, and the medical staff has been actively involved in their rehabilitation.
- Bednarek: Suffered a left knee ligament strain. Prognosis is positive for a return against Sintrense.
- Borja Sainz: Experienced a right ankle trauma. Recovery is also looking favorable for the next match.
- Luuk de Jong: Recovering from a left knee injury sustained in early September. He is nearing full recovery.
Injury Updates and Expectations
Nehuén Pérez is facing a longer recovery period after rupturing the Achilles tendon in his right leg, which may keep him sidelined for several months. In contrast, Luuk de Jong is in the final stages of his rehabilitation. Although it may be too early to include him in the squad for the Taça de Portugal, he could return for the match against Nice on the 27th or Estoril on the 30th.
Coach Farioli expressed enthusiasm about De Jong’s return, emphasizing the diligent work of the medical staff. “Luuk has begun training on the pitch,” Farioli stated. “His response has been positive, although he still experiences some discomfort. We hope he will return to integrated training after the international break.”
The ongoing assessments of De Jong’s condition will determine his participation in upcoming matches, with hopes riding high for a quick return to full training.
