Martin Kemp Aims for I’m A Celebrity Triumph to Boost Bragging Rights
Martin Kemp is gearing up to compete in the reality show “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” with a personal goal in mind. The Spandau Ballet bassist is determined to win, aiming to surpass his son Roman Kemp’s third-place finish from six years ago. This friendly competition adds a unique twist to his participation.
Father-Son Rivalry in the Jungle
If crowned King of the Jungle, Martin has plans to playfully remind Roman of his achievement. He mentioned, “He’ll never live it down. I might get a poster made or something like that.” The playful rivalry is strengthened by Roman’s supportive nature regarding his father’s decision to enter the show.
In a candid moment, Martin shared how he consulted Roman before accepting the invitation to participate. Roman expressed enthusiasm, stating it was “the best thing that he ever did” and admitted feeling a touch of jealousy at the thought of his father joining the show.
Supportive Yet Competitive
Though supportive, Roman may inadvertently become a source of pressure for Martin. Kemp humorously predicted that his son’s followers would root for him to undertake as many Bushtucker Trials as possible. He stated, “I don’t think it’s the public that are going to target me; I think Roman is going to bring all his followers to target me.”
Embracing Authenticity
As he enters the jungle, Martin is committed to being his true self. He emphasized, “What I really don’t want to do is go in there with this false personality that I’m not. I’ve never done that in my life.”
Recent Health Scare
Martin also shared that he recently had a “lucky escape” following an accident involving a chainsaw. After an electric scabbard unexpectedly came to life, he sought medical attention to ensure everything was fine. Fortunately, he reported that his injuries were minor and have healed well.
Looking ahead, Martin is excited about his upcoming experience on “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!” and is ready to take on the challenges that await him.
