Devin Booker’s Passion for Converse Chuck Taylors Spurs Creation of Unique Nike Book 1 PE
Devin Booker has demonstrated a strong affinity for Converse Chuck Taylor shoes throughout his career. His collaboration with Nike, which started with Converse, showcases his passion for this iconic sneaker. The Chuck 70 is a staple in Booker’s footwear collection, with various styles appearing at significant events like NBA Media Day.
Creation of the Unique Nike Book 1 PE
In a notable collaboration, Devin Booker teamed up with Nike and Converse to design a special Player Exclusive (PE) of the Nike Book 1, inspired by the Converse Chuck Taylor. This unique shoe features:
- A black canvas upper.
- The Nike Swoosh logo prominently displayed on the lateral side.
- Unique storytelling elements, including an All-Star badge and ventilation holes on the medial side.
- A black rim around the midsole.
- A name plate at the heel.
This innovative design marks the first instance of a Converse x Nike sneaker being worn on the court, solidifying its importance in both brands’ history.
Previous Collaborations and Milestones
In 2018, a Converse Chuck Taylor featuring a Nike Swoosh was created by designer Mike Cherman. Although this custom shoe gained attention and was spotted on various celebrities, Devin Booker was the first athlete to wear it during a game. Earlier this year, in February, Nike and Converse celebrated Booker’s achievement of becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Phoenix Suns. This milestone was honored with a special Player Exclusive inspired by the Converse Startech Mid, formerly worn by record-holder Walter Davis.
Booker’s collection of Player Exclusives has further expanded. Recently, he unveiled a “What The” Book 1 in white and previously showcased a “Dark Cherry Metallic” version, inspired by his 1996 Chevy Impala SS. These unique designs reflect his creativity and dedication to merging personal style with performance footwear.
