Hughie Cooney, a cherished figure in Monaghan, passed away on November 15, 2025, at Cavan General Hospital. His family was at his side during his final moments, providing comfort and love.

Hughie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Sarah, as well as his sister-in-law Bridget and brothers-in-law Mick and Jim. He leaves behind a loving family that includes his siblings:

In addition, Hughie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and neighbors who will forever hold his memory dear.

Funeral Arrangements

Hughie will repose at Clerkins Funeral Home located in Milltown, Monaghan (H18YF22) on November 17, starting at 5:00 PM. This visitation will continue until the conclusion of prayers at 8:00 PM.

The funeral procession will take place on November 18, leading to St. Macartan’s Cathedral for a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Following the service, Hughie will be laid to rest at Laturcan Cemetery.
