Columbus, Ohio, has achieved a significant milestone by being named the top city in the U.S. for growth and infrastructure. This recognition comes from Site Selection Magazine’s Global Groundwork Index 2025. Since 2021, the Columbus region has attracted 195 companies, generating over $38 billion in capital investment and creating approximately 28,000 jobs.

Columbus Ranks First in U.S. Growth and Infrastructure

This marks a notable improvement for Columbus, which ranked third in the previous year. The city’s rise to the top reflects its strong performance in infrastructure investment and corporate activity. Adam Bruns, Editor in Chief of Site Selection, emphasized that Columbus exemplifies excellence in these areas.

Ohio’s Strong Position

  • Columbus: Ranked 1st in Growth and Infrastructure
  • Cincinnati: Ranked 3rd in the same category
  • Ohio: Secured 3rd place among U.S. states

The continued growth in Columbus is bolstered by initiatives like the Columbus War Room. This coordinated effort aims to secure substantial federal grants to enhance the city’s infrastructure.

Federal Funding Initiatives

The War Room facilitated the acquisition of $116 million in federal funding for vital projects. Key projects funded include:

  • Lancaster’s Industrial Complex
  • Columbus Regional Airport Authority’s Terminal Grant
  • COTA’s West Broad Corridor expansion

These investments are crucial for upgrading transportation, mobility, and utility services. They aim to increase Columbus’s competitiveness for future business investment.

As Columbus continues to thrive, its strategic efforts and infrastructure improvements position the city as a leader in economic growth in the heart of the Midwest.
