On November 20, 2025, at 9:00 PM, Emegypt will present LidOdissea, the latest creation from the esteemed Compagnia Berardi Casolari. This original drama, crafted and directed by Gianfranco Berardi and Gabriella Casolari, features collaboration from César Brie. LidOdissea reinterprets Homer’s epic as a reflection of contemporary society.
The Premise of LidOdissea
The narrative unfolds with a family vacationing at a beach resort, where the characters evoke the adventures of the Odyssey. This journey transforms into an introspective exploration, filled with humor, fragility, and paradoxical visions. Central figures like Ulysses, Penelope, and Telemachus become analogs for modern individuals grappling with societal pressures for speed, efficiency, and perfection. The performance captures the essence of contemporary life’s complexities.
Thematic Depth
The production dives into the pervasive anxiety of modern existence. It addresses a “golden void” affecting not only youth but an entire generation burdened by unrealistic expectations and an ever-growing sense of inadequacy. The show highlights how our compressed sense of time and expanded virtual reality shape identities and relationships.
