Discover Gemini 3 Pro in the New Public Preview for GitHub Copilot
Google has introduced the Gemini 3 Pro model, which is now available in select GitHub Copilot subscriptions. This rollout will occur gradually across various platforms.
How to Access Gemini 3 Pro
Users can access the new Gemini 3 Pro model via multiple interfaces. These include:
- Visual Studio Code in Agent, Plan, Ask, and Edit mode
- GitHub Mobile for iOS and Android
- GitHub CLI
Subscription Tiers for Gemini 3 Pro
Gemini 3 Pro will be available in the following GitHub Copilot subscriptions:
- Pro
- Pro+ Business
- Enterprise
Enabling Gemini 3 Pro Access
Different procedures are required for enabling Gemini 3 Pro depending on the subscription type:
Enterprise and Business Plans
For Enterprise and Business plans, administrators must activate the Gemini 3 Pro policy within the Copilot settings. Once this is done, users within the organization will gain access to Gemini 3 Pro.
Pro and Pro+ Plans
Users under Pro and Pro+ plans can enable Gemini 3 Pro by:
- Selecting the model in the Visual Studio Code model picker.
- Confirming the one-time prompt that appears.
Using Your Own API Key
Users who wish to bring their own API key must follow this process:
- Choose “Manage Models” from the model picker.
- Select Gemini 3 Pro.
- Enter the API key when prompted.
