Grandvalira Resorts Launches Innovative Digital Mobile Pass with eSIM and AI Control for the 2025-26 Season

Andorra is set to enhance its winter tourism experience with the launch of several technological innovations for the 2025-26 season. A significant investment of €39 million is allocated to improvements in snow production, infrastructure, and visitor services. This announcement was made by Grandvalira Resorts and Andorra Turisme during an event held in Barcelona.

Introduction of the Mobile Pass

One of the most exciting developments is the Mobile Pass, the first digital ski pass in the Pyrenees. This innovation allows skiers to purchase, activate, and use their ski passes directly via the official app, eliminating the need for a physical card. The system utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, enabling access to ski lifts without having to take the phone out of their pocket.

Gradual Rollout and Features

  • The Mobile Pass is available for adult ski passes of 1 to 3 days.
  • Future plans include expanding this feature to additional products during the winter season.

Integrated eSIM for Seamless Connectivity

Alongside the Mobile Pass, Grandvalira Resorts has introduced an eSIM that visitors can purchase through the app. This feature allows international skiers to connect to Andorra’s mobile network without incurring roaming fees or relying on Wi-Fi, significantly enhancing the visitor experience.

Key Benefits of the eSIM

  • Instant connectivity upon activation, even before arrival in Andorra.
  • Competitive data plans designed for travelers.
  • Simplified management of the Mobile Pass and access to real-time information about ski conditions and services.

Enhanced App Features

The Grandvalira Resorts app now includes a new Wi-Fi button for automatic connections to station networks and a digital wallet for storing reservations for dining and activities. These enhancements are tailored to provide a smoother experience for international guests.

Smart Turnstiles to Combat Fraud

In addition to digital innovations, Grandvalira Resorts will implement 244 new intelligent turnstiles featuring artificial intelligence. These devices are designed to detect irregular behaviors and prevent fraudulent access, ensuring a secure and efficient ski experience.

Investment in Infrastructure and Snow Production

  • The €39 million investment covers a range of improvements:
  • 53 new snow cannons and an upgrade of 118 existing ones.
  • New water reservoirs in Grau Roig and Ordino Arcalís.
  • Expanded beginner zones and kid-friendly trails.
  • Renovation of rest areas and services for skiers.

All these enhancements underscore Grandvalira Resorts’ commitment to becoming one of the most advanced ski destinations in Southern Europe regarding digitalization and snow quality. The winter season opening is scheduled for December 5, contingent upon weather conditions. Visitors can look forward to an upgraded and more convenient experience this coming winter.
