Munster Rugby has announced an exciting new signing in Michael Ala’alatoa, who joins from Clermont Auvergne. The 34-year-old tighthead prop signed a seven-month contract that runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. He will begin his tenure with the team on Monday, December 1.

Michael Ala’alatoa: A Seasoned Player

Currently representing Manu Samoa on the international stage, Ala’alatoa brings substantial experience to Munster Rugby. He has accumulated 24 caps and participated in two Rugby World Cups, showcasing his talent on the global arena.

Previous Experience in Rugby

His professional rugby journey began with the Waratahs, where he made his Super Rugby debut in 2014. In 2016, he transitioned to the Crusaders, winning three Super Rugby titles and securing two Super Rugby Aotearoa Championships during his time there. Following that, he played for Leinster from 2021 to 2024, making 62 appearances and scoring six tries.

Ala’alatoa is not the only rugby talent in his family; his father, Vili, was part of the Western Samoa squad at the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Additionally, his brother Allan leads the Brumbies as an Australian international captain.
