Revolutionary Self-Destructing Portable SSD Designed to Securely Erase Sensitive Data
TeamGroup has unveiled a groundbreaking product designed to enhance data security: the T-Create Expert P35S. This portable SSD integrates a self-destruct feature that effectively erases sensitive information. With this innovative device, users can ensure that their data is irrecoverable if they find themselves in compromising situations.
Revolutionary Self-Destructing Portable SSD
The T-Create Expert P35S is a lightweight USB-powered external SSD. It weighs just 1.5 ounces (42 g) and measures 3.5 x 1.6 x 0.7 inches (90 x 40 x 18 mm). Users can choose from various storage options, including 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, or 2 TB.
Data Transfer Speeds
Equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, the P35S offers impressive data transfer rates. It can read or write data at speeds of up to 1,000 MB/s.
Self-Destruct Mechanism
The most notable feature of the T-Create Expert P35S is its self-destruction capability. A two-step process activates this feature:
- First, slide the switch forward to reveal a red warning strip.
- Then, press the switch down to begin the destruction process.
This process, termed “one-click circuit destruction,” physically destroys the NAND chip. TeamGroup emphasizes that this ensures zero data residue, preventing any form of data recovery.
Usage Limitations
To initiate the destruction sequence, the P35S must be connected to a USB port on a computer or Mac. This requirement may limit its effectiveness in urgent situations. TeamGroup states that the drive is intended for immediate destruction of highly sensitive information in emergencies.
Considerations for Users
While the self-destruct feature is a key advantage, the P35S lacks additional security measures found in other flash drives. Unlike devices with hardware encryption or biometric authentication, the P35S solely relies on its self-destruction mechanism.
For individuals handling sensitive information, the timing of the self-destruct activation is crucial. Should someone access the drive before the process is initiated, the data remains vulnerable. TeamGroup has yet to disclose pricing or availability for this innovative SSD.
