NYCFC Ousts Philadelphia Union While Inter Miami Dominates Over Cincinnati

The 2025 MLS Playoffs saw thrilling action as NYCFC eliminated Philadelphia Union while Inter Miami produced a dominant performance against FC Cincinnati.

NYCFC Advances to the Final

In the Eastern Conference semi-finals, NYCFC faced off against Philadelphia Union. The match began with a goal from veteran midfielder Maxi Moralez. He scored after a well-coordinated play, which featured an impressive run from Agustín Ojeda and a pass from Nicolás Fernández.

Inter Miami also showcased their skill in the playoffs, overpowering FC Cincinnati with a convincing performance. Lionel Messi scored his first goal just 19 minutes into the match. He headed in an unmarked shot at the back post.

This goal was significant, marking Messi’s sixth playoff goal this season, achieved in merely four matches. Although both teams had chances in the first half, Miami’s lead remained intact going into the break.

In the second half, goals flowed for Inter Miami. Silvetti scored shortly after halftime with an assist from Messi. Tadeo Allende then netted another goal, also assisted by Messi, making it 3-0. Allende capped off his performance with a second goal, receiving another remarkable assist from Messi, who delivered an outside-of-the-foot pass.

Messi’s contribution of one goal and three assists set a new league record. He now holds the most goal contributions in a single MLS postseason with 12.
