Heartfelt tributes have poured in for Madeline Walsh, a beloved woman from Mayo, known for her kindness and generosity. Her funeral mass took place on November 5 at Christ the King Church in Knockmore, where many shared their cherished memories of her.

Celebration of Life

The mass, held at 11 AM, was concelebrated by several clergy members. Family members brought symbolic items that represented Madeline’s long and generous life to the altar. During the homily, she was remembered for her unwavering kindness and deep faith.

A Life of Service

Madeline worked tirelessly alongside her late husband, Willie, to raise their family of eight. Known as a welcoming neighbor, she ensured that no guest left her home without a warm cup of tea. In her later years, Madeline enjoyed many joyful gatherings with her expanding family. Despite health challenges, she maintained a high quality of life, surrounded by loved ones until her passing.

Her Legacy

Born in Knockmore in 1928, Madeline was the daughter of Michael and Mary Rochford. As the last surviving member of her family, she experienced a family reunion held on August 29 this year, which began with a special Mass in Knockmore.

Final Days

Madeline Walsh passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023, in Mayo University Hospital after a brief illness. She was 97 years old.

Madeline leaves behind a loving family, including:

  • Daughters: Ann, Christina, and Carmel
  • Sons: John, Michael, Liam, and Tommy
  • Grandchildren: 14
  • Great-grandchildren: 16
