South Africa has appointed Temba Bavuma as the captain for the upcoming ODI series against India. This three-match series will commence on November 30 and run until December 6, 2023. However, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will not participate due to a rib injury suffered during training.

Upcoming ODI Series Details

Bavuma is currently captaining the South African team in a Test series against India. Quinton de Kock, who recently returned from ODI retirement, is part of the ODI squad. De Kock earned accolades as the Player of the Series against Pakistan, amassing 232 runs, which included one century and two half-centuries.

Squad Selection and Notable Absences

Despite being South Africa’s second-highest run-scorer in the ODI series against Pakistan, Luhan de Pretorius has not been included in the squad for the India series. Experienced left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has made a comeback after missing the previous series, while fast bowler Anrich Nortje returns to international play following a long absence since the T20 World Cup final against India.

T20I Series Leadership Changes

The T20I series follows the ODI matches, beginning on December 9. Aiden Markram will assume the role of T20I captain, replacing Donnovan Ferreria, who has been rested after leading the team in the Test series. Markram is also part of the ODI squad for the India series.
