Pop-Up Event Details
The pop-up event at Tropical Popical will particularly focus on women, who represent 20% to 25% of new HIV diagnoses. It aims to provide a safe space and resources for education about HIV.
- Date: December 1, 2025
- Time: 3 PM – 5 PM
- Location: Tropical Popical Nail Salon, Dublin
Testing and Support
During the event, two senior nurses from the HIV Testing Hub will offer testing services. Participants can receive an HIV test without needing to book a manicure, although doing so is encouraged.
Andrea Horan, founder of Tropical Popical, expressed the importance of this initiative. She emphasizes that awareness and testing are crucial, especially as diagnoses rise among women. Horan stated, “Testing should feel as routine as getting your nails done.”
Access to Resources
For those unable to attend the pop-up, free testing kits can be ordered from sh24.ie, which offers additional information regarding HIV awareness and testing.
This unprecedented event, the World AIDS Day Festival 2025, aims to impact Dublin’s community significantly by breaking the stigma surrounding HIV and fostering an environment of support and knowledge.
