Starbucks Launches Seasonal Offerings on Black Friday

On November 16, 2023, Starbucks Workers United organized a protest outside a Starbucks in Dupont Circle, Washington, D.C. This demonstration coincided with the company’s “Red Cup Day,” signaling the onset of the holiday season. Protesters were advocating for the recognition of union rights and improved working conditions in non-union stores.

The labor activism underscores a growing movement focused on workers’ rights within the retail and food service sectors. Starbucks has faced increasing scrutiny regarding its treatment of employees and responses to unionization efforts. Activists are urging for solidarity and reforms as the holiday shopping season approaches.

New Seasonal Offerings

In addition to adjusted hours, Starbucks is launching a new seasonal beverage, the Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate. This festive drink combines rich chocolate and refreshing peppermint, topped with peppermint-flavored whipped cream and colorful sprinkles. It will be available starting November 18, 2025, enhancing the holiday experience for consumers.

Alicia Binion from Starbucks’ beverage development team noted the drink’s purpose: “This beverage brings together rich chocolate and cool peppermint flavors, and it’s a sweet way to pause during the holiday rush.”

As the holiday season unfolds, Starbucks aims to blend festive flavors with community dynamics, confirming its commitment to both quality and customer experience.
