BYD Brazil Plant Achieves Milestone with 10000 Vehicles and Launches Second Shift

BYD’s manufacturing facility in Camacari, Bahia, has marked a significant achievement by producing 10,000 vehicles since its operations commenced on July 1, 2025. This factory assembles various electric and hybrid vehicle models, further establishing BYD’s footprint in the Brazilian automotive market.

Production Details of BYD Brazil Plant

The factory currently assembles three main models:

  • All-electric Dolphin Mini hatchback
  • Plug-in hybrid King sedan
  • Song Pro crossover

The Dolphin Mini, known as Seagull in China, was the first model produced at this facility. It plays a vital role in BYD’s strategy to diversify its production portfolio in Brazil.

Expansion and Production Capacity

On November 25, the plant achieved its milestone of 10,000 vehicles. In response to growing demand, BYD has implemented a second shift, adding 120 workers to enhance production capacity. The current annual output target for the facility is set at 150,000 units, with a long-term ambition to escalate this figure to 600,000 vehicles per year.

BYD’s Global Presence

As one of the largest manufacturing complexes outside of China, the BYD Brazil plant joins the company’s international operations, which include facilities in Uzbekistan and Thailand. The Uzbek plant has an annual target of 50,000 units, eventually aiming for 500,000, while the factory in Thailand also has a production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.

Sales Performance in Brazil

From January to September 2025, BYD sold a total of 89,380 vehicles in Brazil. This included:

  • 54,256 plug-in hybrid vehicles
  • 35,124 all-electric vehicles

BYD’s Brazilian lineup features twelve different models, showcasing a diverse range of electric and hybrid options designed to meet local demand.

Upcoming Launches

Looking ahead, BYD plans to launch the Denza B5 off-road plug-in hybrid SUV in Brazil next month. Priced at approximately 436,000 reais (about 80,980 USD), this model is marketed as Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5 in China. Two additional models, the Denza Z9 GT and D9 minivan, are also set to debut in the Brazilian market.

With these developments, BYD is rapidly establishing itself as a leader in the electric vehicle sector in Brazil, aiming for ambitious production goals and expanding its model offerings to cater to the growing automotive market.
