The Department of Social Protection has revealed plans for the Christmas Bonus, benefiting over 1.5 million recipients across the region. This financial assistance aims to support pensioners, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities during the holiday season.
Details of the Christmas Bonus Payment
Payments totaling €370 million will commence today. Recipients will receive the bonus on the same day as their regular payments. This announcement comes as many face rising living costs during the festive season.
Regional Impact
- Monaghan: Approximately 18,600 individuals will benefit.
- Cavan: About 22,900 residents are set to receive the bonus.
Reactions to the Announcement
Senator Gallagher from Monaghan expressed his support for the initiative. He emphasized how essential the payment is due to the increasing cost of living.
