Details of the Data Breaches

  • Two Breaches: Occurred in 2019 and April 2024.
  • 2019 Breach: Affecting 7.6 million current customers and 65.4 million former account holders, this breach involved sensitive data such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, and legal names. This breach was disclosed in March 2024 after personal data was found on the dark web.
  • 2024 Breach: Reported in July 2024, this breach compromised phone records for nearly all of AT&T’s 109 million US customers, stored in a cloud warehouse.

Settlement Breakdown

As part of the settlement, those impacted will receive compensation based on the breach they were affected by:

  • Compensation for 2019 Breach: A total payout of $149 million is designated for affected individuals.
  • Compensation for 2024 Breach: A total payout of $28 million is available for those impacted.

How to File a Claim

Kroll Settlement Administration is handling the settlement process. Customers can check if they are eligible for compensation and file their claims via a dedicated website. To proceed, they will need a Class Member ID typically sent via email.

  • For the 2024 breach, customers can receive up to $2,500 for documented losses.
  • Individuals affected by both breaches can submit claims for both, potentially totaling $7,500.

To ensure eligibility, it’s essential to check spam emails for notifications from Kroll and submit all forms by the December 18 deadline. Claims can also be mailed if online submission is not preferred. Affected customers should act promptly to secure their potential compensation.
