According to Springfield Police spokesman Ryan Walsh, the shooting took place around 10:40 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Home Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered an adult male victim inside an apartment.
Victim and Medical Response
The victim was promptly transported to Baystate Medical Center. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Suspect Identification and Arrest
In the course of their investigation, detectives identified 21-year-old Daevon Shular from Seguin, Texas, as the primary suspect. Shular sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was taken to the same medical facility by a private vehicle late Sunday night.
On Monday at approximately 10:15 a.m., law enforcement officials arrested Shular at Baystate Medical Center.
