Clarion’s Marley Kline Leads District 9 Players to All-State Honors
Marley Kline, a senior outside hitter from Clarion, has been named to the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association Class A All-State team. This recognition comes after a season marked by determination and resilience, especially following a significant knee injury.
Marley Kline’s Remarkable Comeback
The past few months have tested Kline’s limits. After suffering an injury during a match at Cumberland Valley, her left leg buckled, leaving her in pain. Despite the challenges, Kline continued to perform at a high level, contributing significantly to her team’s successes.
Kline described her selection to the All-State team as a validation of her hard work. “It means so much to me, especially after my knee injury this season,” she stated. “Pushing through it reminded me how much I love this sport.”
Collaborative Success with Addiwyn Campbell
Throughout the season, Kline excelled in tandem with junior setter Addiwyn Campbell, who was also recognized on the Class A All-State team. Their synergy propelled the Bobcats to the District 9 title match, where they faced Elk County Catholic, ultimately being eliminated in the first round of the PIAA playoffs.
“I knew I needed to work for my team, and I think this was the best I have ever played,” Kline added, reflecting on her performance. Next season, she will continue her volleyball career at Bloomsburg University.
Other District 9 Standouts
Kline is not the only athlete from District 9 who achieved state-level recognition. Several players showcased their talent and work ethic this season.
- Isabella Brandon: The junior outside hitter from Keystone also gained All-State honors after a standout season, despite facing three head coaches over three years. Brandon expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “I’m deeply honored that my hard work and dedication is seen and recognized by other coaches.”
- Kaylee Smith: A senior setter from Clarion-Limestone, Smith recorded over 2,000 assists, earning her place on the Class A list while overcoming a late-season ankle injury.
- Payton Newton: Representing Elk County Catholic, Newton was acknowledged on the Class A All-State team.
- Jenna Renner: The Port Allegany athlete also received a spot on the Class A All-State team.
- Molly Hansloven: From St. Marys, she earned recognition in Class 2A.
- Sonny Diehl: Selected from Clearfield for Class 3A honors.
- Audrey Kennis: Also recognized for her accomplishments at DuBois in Class 3A.
These players exemplify the talent and determination present in District 9 volleyball, highlighting a season filled with memorable performances and well-deserved accolades.
