Rutherford County Opens 2026–2027 School Choice Application Window
Rutherford County Schools have opened applications for their School Choice programs for the 2026–2027 academic year. The application period runs from December 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026.
School Choice Programs Available
Parents can choose from a variety of academic magnet and open choice options. Notable programs include:
- Central Magnet School
- McFadden School of Excellence
- Thurman Francis Arts Academy
- Homer Pittard Campus School
- International Baccalaureate program at Oakland High School
Additionally, applications for Holloway High School, Rutherford County Virtual School, and local charter schools opened on December 1 and will remain available year-round.
Early College Program Application Window
The LaVergne High School Early College program has a specific application window. This window lasts from December 1, 2025, to March 15, 2026. This timeline accounts for the submission of ACT scores.
Open Choice Acceptance
Each traditional school within Rutherford County will accept 10 students through the open choice program. Furthermore, a dual zone application is offered for high school students who may be rezoned during the 2025–2026 school year. This applies specifically to students from Blackman, Riverdale, Rockvale, or Smyrna high schools.
