Discover Exciting New Development with 280 Homes and Modern Hotel on Town’s Outskirts
Plans are underway for an exciting new development on the outskirts of Newent, Gloucestershire. Developers propose to build up to 280 homes and a modern hotel on a site south of Ross Road at Conigree Court.
Key Features of the Development
- 280 new homes, including 112 affordable units.
- Flexible office spaces and business units.
- A modern hotel to enhance local amenities.
- Accessible green spaces, footpaths, and biodiversity-focused areas.
- A renewable energy micro-grid featuring solar panels.
The ambitious project aims to integrate the town and countryside, enhancing community and employment opportunities. Black Box Planning, representing Arenite Developments, will seek planning permission from the Forest of Dean District Council.
Sustainable Living and Community Integration
One of the core goals is to create a sustainable urban extension. The incorporation of green corridors and a reedbed system will address foul water treatment. In addition, an on-site micro-grid with solar and battery storage will support energy independence.
Approximately 40% of the homes will be designated as affordable housing, reflecting local needs. This translates to around 112 new affordable homes within the overall development.
Community Engagement
Developers are actively engaging with local residents. A dedicated webpage has been created for public feedback on the project. Insights gathered will be shared with the council as part of the planning process.
The northeastern section of the site is designated for employment spaces, potentially including the new hotel. Additionally, commercial areas will function as a community business hub, encouraging the growth of startup enterprises and modern working practices.
This strategic development promises to not only serve the housing needs of Newent but also contribute to the local economy and environment, solidifying its role within the Forest of Dean district.
