Glen Kyne Appointed to New Zealand Film Commission Board
The New Zealand Film Commission (NZFC) announced the appointment of Glen Kyne to its board of directors. Kyne, who has an extensive background in the media industry, will bring valuable insights to the organization.
Background of Glen Kyne
Glen Kyne previously served as the senior vice president and head of networks at Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ. He began his tenure at Discovery in late 2020, where he co-led the company’s operations in Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands. His appointment followed Discovery’s acquisition of Mediaworks TV, where he spent over six years.
In 2021, Kyne took full leadership of the trans-Tasman business after his co-lead, Rebecca Kent, transitioned to a newly established senior vice president role. By June 2022, he assumed his final position at Warner Bros. Discovery, leading networks until his departure in July 2022.
Impact on the New Zealand Film Commission
The NZFC expressed enthusiasm over Kyne’s expertise, highlighting that it would be an invaluable resource as the commission promotes local film initiatives. Their goal is to establish New Zealand as an attractive destination for international film productions. The NZFC stated, “We’re excited to work with Glen and draw on his strategic insights, commercial expertise, and innovative approach to connecting audiences with world-class content.”
