Red Rocks to Host Denver Public Schools Graduations Again

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre is set to celebrate the return of graduation ceremonies for Denver Public Schools (DPS). This iconic venue has a rich history of hosting important events, and local officials are eager to see it become a graduation spot once again.

Return of DPS Graduations to Red Rocks

During a recent Denver City Council meeting, Councilmember Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez expressed her interest in reinstating graduation events at Red Rocks. She fondly recalled her own graduation from North High School at this picturesque venue. “I got to graduate at Red Rocks and it was beautiful,” she noted.

Upcoming Ceremonies

Tad Bowman, the director of Red Rocks, confirmed that the venue is scheduled to host a DPS graduation in 2026. Currently, Lincoln High School is the only local school that secured a time slot for the upcoming year. Bowman mentioned the possibility of additional slots for three schools in the years to come.

Past Graduation Events

  • Red Rocks has been a popular site for graduation ceremonies from various school districts.
  • Last year, notable events included graduations for Columbine High School, Chatfield High School, and Mountain Vista High School.
  • However, DPS students have been absent from these ceremonies for several years.
  • The last recorded DPS graduation at Red Rocks was in 2021 for South High School and KIPP High School.
  • Historical records show previous DPS graduations at Red Rocks dating back to 1999 for North High School.
  • Lincoln High School and John F. Kennedy High School also held graduation ceremonies at this venue in the past.

The enthusiasm for returning DPS graduations to Red Rocks emphasizes the cultural significance of this venue for the community. Local officials and graduates alike hope to make new memories at this stunning location in the coming years.
