YouTube has introduced its highly anticipated Recap feature for 2025. This tool provides users a comprehensive review of their viewing habits over the past year. The Recap includes personalized insights that extend beyond music to encompass the broad spectrum of videos watched on the platform.

The new Recap feature offers a unique glimpse into user interests, detailing up to 12 personalized cards. These cards highlight top channels, explored topics, and the evolution of viewing habits over the year. As part of this rollout, users will also discover their personality type based on their favorite content.

- Global access will be expanded throughout the week.
To retrieve your personalized YouTube Recap, users must first log into their YouTube account. By tapping the ‘You’ tab, they will find a banner indicating “Your Recap is here.” Alternatively, users can go directly to youtube.com/Recap in a browser.
Eligibility Criteria
Not all users can access the Recap feature. Specific conditions apply:
- Users must be over the age of 13, or meet the age requirements of their respective countries.
- Accounts under supervision and those with paused watch histories or auto-delete settings will not be eligible.
Insights from the YouTube Recap
The Recap provides an in-depth summary of the user’s video preferences. From baking tutorials to unboxing videos, the feature categorizes users into one of at least 11 personality types. Notable examples of these personalities include:
- Skill Builder – For users focused on educational content.
- Sunshiner – For those who enjoy uplifting and positive videos.
YouTube’s analysis indicates that common personalities include the Sunshiner, Wonder Seeker, and Connector, while rarer types such as the Philosopher and Dreamer are also identified.
Music Recap Access
For users who have engaged with at least 10 hours of music on YouTube, their Recap will culminate in a card detailing their music listening habits. This card will provide a link to a more detailed music-focused recap.
