Discover YouTube’s New Recap Feature and Unlock Your 2025 Viewing Insights
YouTube has officially introduced its new Recap feature, enhancing its previous music and gaming summaries. This feature offers a comprehensive look at a user’s viewing habits over the past year. Users can now gain deeper insights into their personalized video consumption through YouTube Recap.
What You Need to Know About YouTube’s New Recap Feature
Launched recently, YouTube Recap provides a snapshot of your top interests based on your watch history. In a press release, YouTube emphasized that users will receive up to 12 cards. These cards showcase favorite channels, highlight viewing habits, and categorize users into distinct personality types.
How to Access Your 2025 YouTube Recap
To find your personalized Recap, you need to be logged into your YouTube account. Navigate to the “You” tab. Below your profile information, there will be a banner that says “Your Recap is here.” If you do not see it, you can also visit youtube.com/Recap from a browser.
Eligibility Criteria for YouTube Recap
Not all users will have access to the Recap feature. The eligibility criteria include:
- Users must be 13 years old or older, based on local regulations.
- Supervised accounts are not eligible.
- If your watch history has been paused or auto-delete settings are enabled, it will not count toward the Recap.
Understanding YouTube Recap
YouTube Recap has been a long-awaited feature among users. It goes beyond just listing music listened to in the last year, providing an extensive summary of video preferences. Depending on your interests, you might be categorized into one of at least 11 distinct personality profiles. For instance, if you engage with skill development content, you may fall under the “Skill Builder” type. In contrast, frequent viewers of uplifting content could be labeled as “Sunshiners.”
Popular YouTube Personalities
According to YouTube, the most common user personality types include:
- Sunshiner
- Wonder Seeker
- Connector
More unique types, such as the “Philosopher” and “Dreamer,” are less frequently observed.
YouTube Music Recap
Users who have listened to at least 10 hours of music on YouTube will also receive a music Recap card. This card details the total minutes of music consumed and links to a more in-depth summary of musical preferences.
