Ant & Dec Share Behind-the-Scenes Secrets: The Original I’m a Celeb Concept and Their Dislike for Its Name
Ant and Dec, the beloved presenters of the reality show “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!”, recently shared intriguing insights about the program’s original concept and their initial thoughts on its name.
Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of “I’m a Celebrity”
The duo revealed these details during their Instagram Live session referred to as Jungle Club. Fans were eager to learn about the origins of the show, specifically whether Ant and Dec ever imagined they would still be hosting 25 series later.
The Show’s Origins
Ant shared that the show was initially intended to be a documentary-style format. The executive producers approached them with the innovative idea of following celebrities living in the Australian jungle. They believed that airing it live each night would benefit from the time difference between Australia and the UK.
Dec expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We were like, ‘yeah, we’d love to do it’.” However, when they were presented with the title “I’m a Celebrity”, both presenters felt uncertain about it. Ant noted that throughout the process, they questioned the title, referring to it as “terrible” and believed it would eventually change.
Ultimately, the original title that they deemed a “working title” became iconic. Ant remarked on its lasting success, saying, “It’s gone on to be one of the most iconic titles.”

Additionally, various international adaptations have been created in countries such as Australia, Canada, Germany, and Russia.
