Storm Bram Leaves Thousands in Cork Without Power as it Sweeps Through Ireland
Storm Bram has wreaked havoc across Ireland, leaving thousands of homes and businesses without electricity. The storm has unleashed gusts exceeding 100km/h, particularly impacting the southwest region.
Extent of Power Outages
Over 3,000 properties are currently experiencing power outages. The ESB crews are actively working to restore power, addressing numerous issues caused by fallen trees on power lines.

The outages have primarily affected the following locations:
- Whitechurch: 1,598 customers
- Curraglass, North Cork: 1,088 customers
- Charleville and surrounding areas: more than 1,200 customers
- Mayfield: 977 customers
- Trabeg: 97 customers
- Castlelyons: 29 customers
- Kilbarry: 10 customers
The Electricity Supply Board (ESB) has issued an apology for the inconvenience caused and is focused on repairing the faults as swiftly as possible. Customers can check their outage status through the ESB’s Power Check service.
Weather Conditions
According to Carlow Weather reports, Storm Bram’s winds reached 113km/h at Roche’s Point and 100km/h at Cork Airport at around 11 a.m. The storm is expected to continue moving north, potentially affecting more regions as the day progresses.
Travel Disruptions
The severe weather has also led to road closures due to fallen trees, alongside flooding in certain areas, creating additional travel hazards. The public is advised to stay updated on the weather and road conditions.
