Twin brothers from Absecon, New Jersey, were taken into custody for allegedly making severe threats against officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The arrests occurred on a Tuesday morning, with the suspects identified as Ricardo Antonio Roman-Flores and Emilio Roman-Flores.

Allegations of Threats Against ICE and DHS Officials

The Roman-Flores twins reportedly threatened to shoot ICE officers “on sight” and stated intentions to hang Tricia McLaughlin, the DHS Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs. These threats were made via social media platforms.

Charges Filed Against the Twins

Emilio Roman-Flores faces multiple legal charges, including:

  • Unlawful possession of an assault weapon
  • Possession of prohibited weapons
  • Conspiracy to commit terroristic threats
  • Criminal coercion
  • Making threats
  • Cyber harassment

Ricardo Antonio Roman-Flores is charged with conspiracy to commit terroristic threats. Both individuals are American citizens and are currently in custody of the Absecon Police Department.

Response from Law Enforcement Officials

In a statement, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons emphasized the seriousness of such threats against law enforcement officials. He warned, “Let this be a warning to anyone who dares threaten or attack our brave law enforcement officers. We will find you, we will arrest you, and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.”

Increase in Threats Against ICE Officers

According to the Department of Homeland Security, there has been a staggering 8,000% rise in death threats directed toward ICE officers. This alarming statistic highlights the growing risks faced by law enforcement in the current climate.
