In May last year, Huybrechts underwent surgery due to a fractured shoulder sustained during a violent incident after a football match. The match featured Royal Antwerp against Union Saint-Gilloise, which Antwerp lost 1-0. Following the game, Huybrechts was targeted by a group of hostile fans while returning home through Brussels.

Verhaegen summarized the ordeal, stating, “Kim lay on the ground and took punches, suffering a double fracture of the collarbone.”

Despite the severity of his injuries, Huybrechts made a commendable recovery. He participated in the World Cup of Darts in June, reaching the semi-finals alongside fellow Belgian Dimitri Van den Bergh. His determination to return to professional darts showcases his resilience.
