Anaheim Ducks Send Prospect Buteyets to Tulsa Team for Development

The Anaheim Ducks have announced the assignment of goaltender Vyacheslav Buteyets to the Tulsa Oilers, their affiliate in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). This decision comes as the Ducks also activated goaltender Lukas Dostal from the Injured Reserve.

Vyacheslav Buteyets: Career Highlights

Vyacheslav Buteyets, 23, is a promising goaltender who made his NHL debut on December 3 against Utah. In that game, he recorded 10 saves in 20 minutes of play. With this appearance, he became the 72nd goaltender to compete in the ECHL, AHL, and NHL during the same season. Notably, he is the second Ducks goalie to achieve this feat, following Timo Pielmeier’s example from the 2010-11 season.

Season Performance Overview

This season, Buteyets has participated in 10 games across both the AHL and ECHL, achieving a combined record of 5-5-0. His performance breakdown is as follows:

  • Record with San Diego (AHL): 1-2-0
  • Goals Against Average (GAA): 3.72
  • Save Percentage (SV%): .878
  • First AHL win: November 26, 2025, against Tucson (39 saves on 42 shots)
  • Record with Tulsa (ECHL): 4-3-0, GAA: 2.81, SV%: .924

During his time with the Tulsa Oilers, he had a strong showing, which included a record of 19-13-3 with four shutouts and a GAA of 2.82 during the 2024-25 season. He also competed in five Kelly Cup Playoff games, achieving a 2-3-0 record with a GAA of 3.03.

Early Career and KHL Experience

Buteyets began his career in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in the 2023-24 season with Traktor Chelyabinsk, where he made a single appearance. He was selected by the Ducks in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Draft, 178th overall. Before joining the Ducks, he played 81 games for Chelmet Chelyabinsk in the VHL, amassing a record of 40-32-6, four shutouts, with a GAA of 2.36 and a .923 SV%.

This move to the Tulsa Oilers is part of the Ducks’ strategy to further develop Buteyets as a key asset in their goaltending depth. Both organizations are hopeful that this opportunity will enhance his skills and readiness for future NHL engagements.
